Best time to travel
Peru is an extremely varied country in physio-ecological and cultural aspects. In Peru you can see deserts, glaciers and tropical rainforest all in the same day! Depending on what you are interested in and where you want to go you can opt for certain travel data.
The area of Lircay is located in the central Andean highlands at an altitude of about 3200 meters. This area has a rainy season and dry season. The rainy season runs from November till April and is characterized by rainy periods that can last from a few minutes up to 2 days. It is however also possible that you get a couple of very bright and sunny days. Temperatures during the rainy season are 15-20 degrees but on sunny days can easily rise to 25 ºC.
The dry period runs from April through to November and is characterized by dry spells that can last for weeks. During this period the lush green pastures and forests slowly turn grey. At night temperatures drop and it can be quite cold, although in the town itself they don’t drop below freezing.
Besides climatic conditions you might be especially interested to experience a specific festivity, like la fiesta de la Virgin del Carmen in July or the installation of the Varayocc (traditional authorities) in the beginning of January.
